A British Museum exhibition focusing on the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) attracted 121 jordan 6 for sale ,000 visitors, making it the museum's biggest Chinese cultural heritage show ever in terms of numbers.


Ming: 50 Years that Changed China ran from September to January. A survey by the London museum found 94 percent of visitors felt positive about the display.


"It was the most detailed exhibition on Chinese cultural heritage (in the British Museum)," says Jessica Harrison-Hall, the curator of the exhibition and an expert on Chinese ceramics with the British Museum.


"We used to have a general exhibition on a whole dynasty," Harrison-Hall says. "But at the current stage of Chinese studies air jordan 13 doernbecher for sale , we can really look at a shorter period in detail like this one (the Ming show)."


Harrison-Hall was recently in Beijing to attend a museum curators' workshop, as part of the UK-China Year of Cultural Exchange.


The Ming exhibition featured 108 cultural relics from 10 museums in China, plus items from the British Museum and collections in Japan, the United States and Europe. The pieces on display told the story of the rapid changes that occurred in Chinese society between 1400 and 1450, the early years of Ming Dynasty.

But nowadays most people you talk to in Britain have (made) personal journeys to China, or have friends working and studying in the country. The museum has come up with a number of ideas for exhibitions about Chinese history, but Harrison-Hall says it will take five years to prepare for another such exhibition, and hints that one potential theme for the next major project may be Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) paintings.

A tour of Ming ceramics, for instance, is currently touring primary schools in Britain. The yearlong project to promote Chinese history will end in May.

The National Museum of China has worked with the British Museum on a book about Chinese relics kept by the London museum. The book will be published in 2016.

London-based Victoria and Albert Museum, the world's leading museum in terms of decorative arts and design, launched a project last year to cooperate with Chinese real estate developer China Merchants Group to build a design museum in Shekou district of Shenzhen, Guangdong province.


V&A has restored about 18,000 Chinese cultural relics and has held several big exhibitions of Chinese relics.


"Shenzhen has an established and growing community of designers and it is a center of manufacturing and electronic industry jordan 13 grey toe size 12 ," says Luisa Mengoni, the project head of V&A. "People are talking about how to change 'made-in-China' to 'created-in-China'. This is a chance."


The Shekou Design Museum is scheduled to open in 2017.


"It's beyond a museum. It is about education. We want to have new concepts in the exhibitions there. We expect it to be an incubator of local young designers and connect them with investors," Mengoni explains.


The achievements have also perhaps shed some light on Sino-UK museum ventures.


"We're not starting from a blank sheet. There are good established partnerships," says Nick Marchand, director of arts and creative industries from the cultural and education section of the British embassy in Beijing.


He says he is hoping to expand communication between museums in the two countries.
