end of the first period Antworten

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens added a new chapter to their rivalry Friday night, despite the fact that its still the pre-season. Thomas Chabot Senators Jersey .Bobby Ryan scored in overtime to give the Ottawa Senators a 4-3 victory, but it was a fight between Mark Borowiecki and P.K. Subban midway through the third that was clearly the highlight of the night for most.Subban was unavailable to comment on the exchange, but Canadiens coach Michel Therrien was proud of his young defenceman. He showed character, he didnt back down, said Therrien. These are the things you dont want to see, but those things happen at times during pre-season games.Borowiecki admitted he was a little surprised to be paired off with Subban after a scrum broke out, but admitted there was a distinct intensity right from the start of the game.It didnt really feel like a pre-season game, it was pretty intense out there, said Borowiecki. I think thats just the nature of this rivalry. It doesnt matter what time of the season its always pretty intense.Borowiecki gave Subban credit for staying in there as long as he did, considering hes a skilled player, but anticipates someone else will likely take care of things if theres a next time.Erik Karlsson, Mike Hoffman and Alex Chiasson also scored for Ottawa as Robin Lehner stopped 24 shots. The Senators are 3-2-1 in exhibition play this year.Alex Galchenyuk, Max Pacioretty and P.A. Parenteau scored for Montreal, which dropped to 4-2-0 in the pre-season. Peter Budaj faced 26 shots. It might be pre-season, but the Senators felt that rallying to get the win was significant. Its huge because we didnt do it very often last year, said Ryan. Even if it is pre-season you get a sense that youre building on something and thats what you want to do. You want to come in every night feeling a little bit better than the night before. After a less than thrilling 40 minutes the two teams gave the 19,034 on hand at Canadian Tire Place something to get excited about as three goals were scored. The period started with the Canadiens leading 2-1, but in a span of just over five minutes three goals were scored.Hoffman tied the game early in the third scoring from a sharp angle down low to beat Budaj. It was only the Senators 10th shot of the game.Parenteau regained the lead for Montreal, scoring a power-play goal from the point. Lehner appeared to make the save, but the puck trickled through his pads. The Senators made the most of a 19-second two-man advantage as Chiasson banged home a Mika Zibanejad rebound to once again tie the game.It was a good battle and I think it was a good game, said Budaj. Unfortunately we didnt get a win.Things got heated shortly after Chiassons goal as Chris Neil and Pacioretty got into it, as well as Subban and Borowiecki. In the end, the Senators were left shorthanded being assessed an extra four minutes.Outshot 12-2 in the second period the Senators were fortunate to only be trailing 2-1.We struggled in the second, said Karlsson. I think theres different parts of the game that we need to work out, but I think we addressed that going into the third and I think we started the third really well and that carried us all the way to the end.Galchenyuk tied the game midway through the second as he came from behind the net, grabbed the puck and had it go in off Cody Cecis stick.I came behind the net and I saw the puck lying there and I knew if I get it quick the goalie wouldnt see much, said Galchenyuk. Lucky for me it was open and it went in.With time winding down Pacioretty was able to take advantage of an Ottawa turnover and broke in alone on Lehner and beat him low glove side to take a 2-1 lead. The Senators didnt register their first shot of the period until the 14-minute mark.Ottawa jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Karlssons power-play goal midway through the first. The two teams are back in action Saturday night as both wrap-up the pre-season schedule.Notes: C Zack Smith, C Colin Greening and D Patrick Wiercioch were a healthy scratch. D Matt Methot remains sidelined and has yet to play this pre-season. This marked Senators D Erik Karlssons first game wearing the captains C. This was the Senators first time experiencing the dry scrape and players admitted it definitely takes momentum away and felt a little long. Mark Borowiecki Senators Jersey . Alen, 28, hit .315 with five home runs, 59 RBI and a career-high nine stolen bases for the Goldeyes last season. He is the longest serving catcher in Goldeyes history, having already spent five seasons with the organization. Chris Tierney Jersey . Price was hurt at the start of Wednesdays practice after facing just one shot as the team worked on their power play. He left the ice in discomfort and appeared to be favouring his leg. A Habs source told TSNs John Lu that Price suffered the injury in Sochi and not before the Olympics. http://www.senatorssale.com/authentic-christian-jaros-senators-jersey/ . Brad Malone had the other goal for the Monsters (1-1-0), while Elliott chipped in an assist for a three-point night and the games first star. Bryan Lerg also had two assists. Corban Knight and Max Reinhart scored for the Heat (1-1-0), who opened their season Friday with a 5-2 win over the Monsters in Cleveland.MINSK, Belarus -- Defending champion Sweden made the first step in its title defence with a 3-0 victory over Denmark at the ice hockey world championship on Saturday. Calgary Flames forward Mikael Backlund scored twice in the opening period when the Swedes displayed fast, well organized play that was tough for Denmark to match. "It was nice to have a few goals right away, keep the pressure off and the nerves away," Backlund said. Another Scandinavian superpower, Finland, began its campaign with an upset 3-2 loss to Latvia and Norway blanked Italy 3-0 while Germany prevailed in a shootout to beat Kazakhstan 2-1. Backlund scored his first for Sweden when defenceman Markus Lauridsen deflected his shot to the net with his skate and struck again by precisely directing Joakim Lindstroms slap shot. Detroit Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist added the third on a solo effort after intercepting a pass. "Once we got up two to nothing we stopped taking the puck to the net," Nyquist said. "We tried to make too many passes instead of shooting the puck." Latvia failed to capitalize on its second-period power plays when a total of seven Finns were in the penalty box. Finland used its only power play in that period to go 2-1 up with a goal by Petri Kontiola. Kristaps Sotnieks tied the match for Latvia -- the quarterfinalist in the Sochi Winter Olympics -- in the third before Arturs Kulda netted the winner on a power play. It was the first victorry for Latvia over Finland at the worlds. Bobby Ryan Senators Jersey. . Thomas Oppenheimer scored the decisive goal in the shootout to give Germany the win. Germany outshot its opponent 47-20 but Kazakhstan went ahead 1-0 after a goal from Andrei Gavrilin. The Germans answered through Matthias Plachta at the end of the first period. "I have to look at the positive," German coach Pat Cortina said. "We put the puck to the net and that is extremely important for our team." Niklas Roest opened the scoring in the first period for Norway, Morten Ask made it 2-0 midway through the game and captain Anders Bastiansen rounded off the victory on a breakaway in the third. "I tried to shoot early to surprise the goalie and it went in, so I was really happy," Bastiansen said. "We did a good job. We won and thats the most important thing." Goaltender Lars Haugen made 15 saves for the shutout, but needed help from his posts on two shots by defenceman Daniel Sullivan in the second. "We had a little difficulty in the beginning, adjusting to the speed," Italy coach Tom Pokel said. "However, as the game went on we got better and better. So it was a good game for us." Italy and Kazakhstan are both newcomers to the top division this year. Later Saturday, Canada hopes to rebound from Fridays 3-2 loss to France with a win against Slovakia, while the United States faces Switzerland a day after it routed host Belarus 6-1. ' ' '
