Louisvilles 94-74 win over Indiana in Game 2 of the Antworten

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Montrezl Harrell posted his fourth straight double-double in No. 4 Louisvilles 94-74 win over Indiana in Game 2 of the Jimmy V Classic from Madison Square Garden. Harrell shot 10-of-13, finishing with 21 points and 11 rebounds to help the Cardinals (8-0) remain unbeaten. Terry Rozier scored a game-high 26 points and Chris Jones stuffed the stat sheet with 24, nine rebounds and five assists. Wayne Blackshear added 14 points. James Blackmon Jr. led four Hoosiers in double figures with 18 points. Indiana (7-2) had its three-game win streak snapped. I hope we learn a lot from this (loss), Indiana head coach Tom Crean said. Four different Hoosiers scored during a 9-0 flurry to open the second half. Jones was the catalyst leading the Cardinals back, scoring seven straight before Rozier canned a 3-ball that gave Louisville a six-point lead at 58-52. After Emmitt Holts putback layup at 11:13 of the second half, Indiana went 4 1/2 minutes without scoring. Troy Williams free throws at 6:46 finally ended the drought, but Rozier hit again from deep to open up Louisvilles largest lead of the game, 76-62. The Cardinals led by at least 10 the rest of the way and made the final score look crooked by sinking 11-of-12 from the foul line in the final 2:07. It was tied at 16 6 1/2 into the game following Robert Johnsons triple when the Cardinals began to take control. Harrell went on a personal 6-0 run on a putback dunk, a slam in transition and a sloppy Indiana inbounds pass that led to his explosive two-handed dunk. Indiana turned it over again out of a timeout and Louisville had five looks at the basket thanks to four offensive boards before Jaylen Johnson drew a foul and split a pair of free throws. Indiana regrouped and hit five of its next eight shots out of a timeout. Max Hoetzels triple had the Hoosiers within a point, 30-29. Louisvilles lead stretched into double figures after that, with the Cardinals netting 14 of the next 16 points. But once again, Indiana responded, closing the half on a 10-2 run. Nick Zeisloft hit a pair of 3s during the stretch and it was 46-41 at the break. We havent been able to play this style in awhile, where you just go up and down like a ping pong match, Louisville head coach Rick Pitino said. We were more than happy to do it, and it was exciting. Game Notes With his slam at 12:48 of the second half, Harrell became the all-time leader in dunks in Louisville history ... Harrell has scored at least 12 points and pulled down seven rebounds or more in every game this season ... Louisville won the rebounding margin, 52-34 ... The practice, the teams fifth organized team activity session, was the first Milliner has missed this off-season after experiencing symptoms earlier in the week. "Its just precautionary," Milliner said. "I feel fine." Milliner, in his second season, had a rough start to his rookie year while dealing with hamstring issues early. He is expected to take over this season for Antonio Cromartie as the teams No. 1 cornerback, making this latest injury — however minor — cause at least some concern for the Jets. "He has to understand that hes got to be in extraordinary shape," coach Rex Ryan said. "His challenge will be to be in world-class shape because weve got to have you out there. He needs to be out there and he needs to get work, because thats how hes going get better." Ryan said Milliner, the No. 9 overall pick last year, had been having a good off-season before this setback. The coach was encouraged by Milliners progress last season, particularly in the final month. "You saw it as the year went on last year, he got better because of the work on the practice field and in the classroom," Ryan said. "He was taking off from there, and you dont want to see this happen. Hes got to step it up, because I think hes got all the talent in the world." Milliner, who stood on the sideline during team drills, acknowledged that theres a bit of frrustration not being able to participate.dddddddddddd "It bothers me because I want to be out there on the field with my teammates getting better during OTAs," he said. "In another way, its fine because I know (Im not) injured or hurt that bad." Wide receiver Eric Decker also was among those who did not participate. He is in Nashville with wife and recording artist Jessie James for the CMT Music Awards, at which they will be presenters. Ryan had no issue with the teams top receiver not being at the voluntary workouts. "Well, speaking as a married guy, (I) absolutely recommend that you would go to that," a smiling Ryan said. "So that would be recommended, I think. You know, you ask for their support, you need to support them, too." Meanwhile, running back Mike Goodson, coming off a knee injury and facing legal troubles, has yet to show for any of the teams OTAs. Ryan again stressed that the practice sessions are voluntary, but added: "He volunteered not to be here, and Ill volunteer to not answer the question." Goodson roster status is in serious doubt, aside from facing weapons charges. The Jets also have Chris Ivory, Chris Johnson, Bilal Powell, Alex Green and Daryl Richardson at the position. And, the team isnt quite certain how much Goodson has been able to do in his rehabilitation from the injury. "Im not going to speculate because hes not here and I dont know where he is," Ryan said about Goodsons rehab. "We havent seen him, so I cant answer that question." ' ' '
