The Toronto Maple Leafs aim to avoid their worst start to a season in five years on Sunday evening as they visit New York for the Rangers home opener at Madison Square Garden. The Maple Leafs will play on the road for the first time this season after dropping home contests to Montreal and Pittsburgh to begin the campaign. After losing a one-goal decision to the Canadiens on Wednesday, they were bested 5-2 on Saturday by the Penguins. Toronto was outshot 41-25 and trailed 3-0 after the first period before getting goals from Joffrey Lupul and Tyler Bozak, both on the power play. However, the Leafs also allowed the Penguins to score three times on the man advantage, while netminder Jonathan Bernier did his best with 36 saves. "I probably wouldve done what Im doing right now, test it out," Vonn said after a training session at Vail on Sunday. "If I felt like it was possible to keep skiing, I probably wouldve. Either way, at the end of the season, I have to reconstruct the ACL. "So its kind of like, might as well see how long it holds up. Not a lot of options. In the end, surgery is going to have to happen." On a chilly morning, Vonn took two warmup runs followed by three aggressive passes through the super-G course in her race suit, hugging the corners tight and looking quite fast. Afterward, she said her surgically repaired knee felt "really good." So much so that Vonn will travel to Lake Louise, Alberta, this week for downhill training on a course she usually dominates. "Frustrating to miss the race," Vonn said. "Definitely with this current situation, there was no way I couldve skied that bumpy, steep course. I know it was the right decision. That gives me a peace of mind. Im trying to look forward to Lake Louise and cheer for my team." Asked if she planned to attend the giant slalom race on Sunday, Vonn said, "Oh, no. "My family is leaving so Im spending a couple of extra hours with my family. Then, Im going to pack up and get ready for Lake Louise."
