Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Ben Lovejoy tallied a goal and an assist as the Anaheim Ducks cruised into the All-Star break with a 6-3 victory against the Calgary Flames. Tim Jackman, Pat Maroon, Kyle Palmieri, Ryan Kesler and Ryan Getzlaf all lit the lamp and Frederik Andersen made 30 saves for the Ducks, who have won five straight games. Tonight was a night we really wanted, said Lovejoy. We wanted to have a happy four days (off). Sean Monahan scored for the fourth game in a row, while Joe Colborne and Mikael Backlund also lit the lamp for the Flames, who had their four-game winning streak come to an end. Jonas Hiller stopped 13-of-14 shots in relief of Joni Ortio, who allowed four goals on 11 shots. We were just not getting the breaks today, Ortio said. We had some good chances, an open net and it just wasnt going our way tonight. Anaheim extended its home winning streak to 20 games against Calgary. The Flames were last victorious at Honda Center on Jan. 19, 2004. The Ducks seized control early with a three-goal first period. Matt Beleskey emerged from behind the net and slipped a pass through the crease to Palmieri, who wristed the shot past Ortio 4:41 into the game. Maroon deflected Lovejoys shot into the net with 5:01 to play in the first period and Lovejoys wrister from the top of the right circle off a faceoff win made it a 3-0 game just over two minutes later. Jackman gave the Ducks a 4-0 advantage midway through the second with a wrist shot over the glove of Ortio, chasing the Calgary netminder from the game. The Flames, however, cut the deficit to two heading into the final stanza. Backlund deposited a loose puck into the net at 11;13 and Monahan finished off a smooth tic-tac-toe passing play with a quick shot from the slot with 48 seconds left in the second. Less than eight minutes into the third, Palmieri had a power-play goal waved off after it was ruled that he pushed Hillers pad into the net. Getzlaf made it a 5-2 game after he took Corey Perrys backhanded pass and beat Hillers glove with a snap shot with 10:16 remaining. Colborne responded just 58 seconds later after he batted a loose puck past Andersen to make it a two-goal game once again. He couldnt have picked a tougher side to break into for a foreigner (barring RCB perhaps) but his stock is high after the World T20 and IPL 9 could be the time when he fully announces himself on the big stage.Billings will find it harder, especially as Delhi have two excellent keeper/batsmen in their squad in Quinton De Kock and Sanju Samson, but he could play as a specialist batsman as that is an area where the Daredevils look a little thin.So, whos going to take home the trophy? Looking at the squads it seems a bit of a lottery (every side has a few match-winners!), so Ill go with the usual tactic of favouring the best bowling attacks as stats will tell you they generally win tournaments. AB de Villiers adds to a powerful Bangalore batting line-up Royal Challengers undoubtedly have the best top three with Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers and theyve signed Shane Watson, but with no Mitchell Starc their bowling could potentially be toothless, so, at the risk of looking extremely stupid, I dont think theyll win it and may not even make the play-offs.Kolkata finished fifth last year and theyve hardly changed their squad but I fancy them to improve on that. Even if Sunil Narine isnt the force he once was they still have an impressive array of spinners to prosper on a pitch that usually takes turn - step forward Brad Hogg, Shakib Al Hasan, Piyush Chawla and Yusuf Pathan.Its hard to look past Mumbai as well and I reckon Sunrisers could spring a surprise - new signings Yuvraj Singh, Deepak Hooda, Ashish Nehra and Mustafizur could well drive them into the knock-out stage for the first time since 2013.
