Former NHL defenceman Scott Stevens stepped down from his role as assistant coach for the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello said that Stevens will not be a part of the coaching staff in 2014-15 and Tommy Albelin, whos coached with the AHLs Albany Devils for the past four seasons, will take over for Stevens. Lamoriello said his decision to step down was a "personal, professional" one. "There is nothing to read into," said the GM. "Its not the organization. Its not this. Its not that. Its just that was a decision he made. Im sure its not something that will be long term. Im sure hell be back into coaching, hopefully, here someday. Its just a personal thing."
