ORLANDO, Fla. -- Rashard Lewis didnt join the Miami Heat last season with any illusions of expecting to log the minutes he did earlier in his career. That doesnt mean the veteran forward isnt capable of contributing quality minutes when the Heat need them. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh each had 20 points, and Lewis added 18 points in just his second start of the season as the Miami Heat rallied to beat the Orlando Magic 110-94 Saturday night. "Were a veteran team and Im used to it after playing last year. You just have to be mentally ready to go when your name is called upon," Lewis said. "With the type of team we have you might play 20 minutes and you might play 5 minutes. Youve just got to be ready." Lewis started in place of Shane Battier, who sat out to rest a sore quadriceps. He gave quality minutes all night, hitting three 3-pointers. He also had eight points during a third-quarter run, before the Heats big three then caught fire in the fourth to secure the victory. LeBron James had 15 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. The Heat won their eighth straight over the Magic. It was also Miamis 22nd consecutive divisional victory, leaving it just one win short of tying Bostons NBA record of 23 set in 1961. Miami kept its streak going despite James 5-for-13 shooting night. Wade has been pacing himself recently in back-to-back games, but started Saturday. Miami hosts Toronto on Sunday. The Raptors are one of the leagues hottest teams, winning five straight and eight of their last 10. They currently lead the Atlantic Division. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said its something theyre aware of, but nothing theyll put too much emphasis on. "Weve been noticing," Spoelstra said. "Theyve been playing very good basketball. We mentioned that about the Eastern Conference. It is way too premature to figure out where teams are. There are teams that have higher ceilings, and theyre one of them." The Magic were without starting centre Nik Vucevic, who missed his second straight game with a sprained left ankle. But they managed to stay in the game by spacing the floor and getting some easy layups. They fell apart down the stretch, though, as Miami began to rack up points inside. Jameer Nelson led Orlando with 21 points and Tobias Harris added 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Magic lost their third straight. "They got out in transition and Im always talking about how offence helps your defence, and we couldnt get anything going," Magic coach Jacque Vaughn said. The Magic tried to adjust to Vucevics absence by shifting Glen Davis to centre and inserting Andrew Nicholson in to start at power forward. Nicholson played only six minutes, but was pulled in the first quarter and didnt return. While Nicholson struggled defensively, Davis took advantage of Battiers absence and had a lot of early success inside to keep the Magic in it. The Magic clung to a 57-54 lead early in the third quarter before a layup by James ignited a 19-2 Heat run that put Miami back in front 73-59. Lewis had six points during the run, including a four-point play. The Magic never got closer than nine in the fourth quarter. Arron Afflalo, the Magics leading scorer, said he hopes a five-game road trip -- which begins on Monday -- can help him break out of a recent shooting slump. He has shot under 40 per cent in each of the Magics last three games. "Its getting back to that point again, we just want to win," he said. "Regardless of any and everything, each and every night, whether its this or that -- we just want to win." Bosh said hes excited about his latest matchup against the Raptors. "This is going to be a huge game for them," he said. "We know they have a lot of confidence and have had some big games and big wins on the road. ... We are going to have to make sure we let them know what is really important for us at home and what a true champion plays like." ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams had a few cautionary words of advice for Marcell Dareus, in welcoming his teammate back to practice Tuesday. Its time, Williams said, Dareus realized he has put his young and promising career in jeopardy after being charged in two separate arrests last month involving drug possession and a car accident. "Im hoping that this is kind of a watershed moment for him, because hes at a pivotal point," Williams said after Dareus reported for the start of the Bills three-day mandatory minicamp. "Hopefully, its to a point where its kind of an epiphany, and he comes alive and turns the corner and does his best." Williams, a team captain, is taking a tough-love approach with Dareus, a player hes spent the past three years mentoring. "I think hes heard (advice) from a lot of different levels, whether it be from his teammates or coaches, and Im sure the front office," Williams said. "So if you cant get it from those three levels, maybe youre not going to get it." Dareus, the Bills 2011 first-round draft pick, returned to practice for the first time since he and coach Doug Marrone agreed that the player take two weeks off to sort out his legal problems. Its unclear what Dareus has been doing during his time away. The Bills announced before practice that Dareus will not be made available to reporters this week so that he can focus solely on football. Dareus was escorted off the field by a team official following practice. Hes been off since May 30. Thats when shortly after participating in a voluntary practice, Dareus crashed his 2012 Jaguar into a tree near a busy suburban Buffalo intersection after allegedly racing teammate Jerry Hughes. Dareus was charged with reckless endangerment and ticketed for several traffic violations, including drag-racing. Dareus was scheduled to appear at Hamburg Town court on Tuesday, but that was pushed back to July 1 in part so that he didnt miss practice. Its great that hes back. And I think he thrives in a situation like this where its all football." On the field, Dareus returned to his familiar starting spot alongside Williams. In one team drill during the non-contact practice, Dareus showed off his power and speed by bullying past guard Kraig Urbik to break up a potential pass. On the next play, Dareus spun off Urbiks block and filled the hole to stop a run. Coach Marrone has stuck by Dareus, while expressing disappointment in saying the player has made "some poor decisions." "I just want to make sure that Im clear that everyone understands that I believe in Marcell, and I will do everything I can to make sure that we can get him on the right track," Marrone said two weeks ago. "Im going to do everything I can to help a 24-year-old man make better decisions."
