LONDON, Ont. -- Montreal Canadiens prospect Nathan Beaulieu and his father, former Sarnia Sting coach Jacques Beaulieu, have pleaded guilty to assault and were granted conditional discharges. They were charged with assault in April after an altercation at a house party that left two people with minor injuries. Lawyer Patrick Ducharme said the ruling will allow the men to continue their hockey careers. "That means that there is no conviction registered," Ducharme said. "The court accepts their taking responsibility for it, but instead of convicting the accused they gave each of them a discharge. The Canadiens took Beaulieu 17th overall in the 2011 NHL draft. He played six games with Montreal last season, recording two assists. Jacques Beaulieu was fired as general manager and coach of the OHLs Sting in late May, after he was charged with assault. Co-owner Rob Ciccarelli said at the time that "the reasons for his dismissal are not related to the on-ice performance of our hockey club."
